The Senior R&D Engineer is a member of the Solutions Development team who are responsible for the development of customized Ansys software solutions for specific customer needs. In this role, the Senior R&D Engineer will collaborate with a team of subject matter experts to understand the customer requirements. They will then use their advanced technical and problem-solving skills to help the team satisfy those requirements by accomplishing the solution development objectives.


Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the best possible performance and quality of the solutions to be delivered.
  • Plan, design, implement and maintain software components which meet the solution requirements.
  • Enhance and maintain code quality and automatization.
  • Create and maintain appropriate testing strategies.
  • Cooperate with and help other developers, including participating in code reviews.
  • Work in an agile environment to develop specific customized solutions.
  • Interact with project teams across applications and business units to address project requirements.
  • Integrate various ANSYS tools as well as third party software into the solution to deliver innovative automated simulation workflows.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision.


Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field with 5 years’ experience, MS with 3 years’ experience, or PhD with 1 year experience.
  • Experience with software design and development methodologies.
  • Deep understanding and practical experience of using Object-oriented languages such as Python or C#.
  • A minimum of 3 years of working experience with ANSYS or any other related CAE tool.
  • Experience with development tools such as Microsoft Visual Studio, Git and MS Azure DevOps or GitHub.
  • Demonstrated skills in writing and presenting in fluent English.


Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Good understanding of software architecture patterns and principles.
  • Good understanding of Web architecture and Web API such as RESTful or gRPC.
  • Experience with Software Development LifeCycle processes, including testing and DevOps practices.
  • Experience with frontend technologies such as Angular or React.
  • Knowledge of Agile methods.
  • Must have passion and drive for personal technical excellence and high performance.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a geographically distributed team.
